Twelve to six months before
Fix the dates for every function with both families, agree the budget and who pays for what, and book the marquee or banquet hall. Good photographers and caterers in peak season (November to February) go early.
Six to two months before
Order the bridal lehenga and groom's sherwani, start the bari and dahej lists, draft the guest list side by side, book décor for Mehndi and send out cards and RSVP links.
The last month
Confirm the headcount and meal counts with the caterer, make the seating plan, share the run-sheet with the cousins in charge, and settle final payments in labelled envelopes.
